THE STREET TAROT
A Deck Without a Dealer
01 / The Encounter
Twelve cards on a road.
On 16 October 2026, during a morning walk in Kep, Cambodia, I discovered twelve playing cards scattered along approximately thirty to fifty metres of road.
Most were face down. I began filming before turning over the first card and continued recording the discoveries in their original order.
Nobody knows who left the cards there or why.
02 / The Twelve Cards
In the order of discovery.
The recorded sequence
8♣ 4♣ A♥ A♠ 8♠ 5♥ 9♣ K♣ 4♦ Q♣ 6♠ 3♥
Black — Black — Red, repeated four times. An observed structural pattern, not evidence of deliberate arrangement or a prediction made during discovery.
03 / The Transformation Protocol
From twelve found cards to a single symbol.
I submitted the recorded sequence to a series of separate AI conversations. Each stage transformed the result of the previous one, without access to the original encounter or the complete history of the experiment.
Patterns became algorithmic code, code became an oracular message, and the message was progressively reduced to twelve words, eight words, one word and finally a single symbol.
The experiment was not intended to discover what the cards really meant. It was an attempt to observe how meaning emerges, changes and survives through successive transformations.

- 02
Pattern recognition
Structural relationships are observed in the sequence.
- 03
Algorithmic code
The pattern is translated into a formal representation.
- 04
Oracular message
A separate conversation interprets the code.
- 05
12 words
The message is reduced to twelve words.
- 06
8 words
A further transformation reduces it to eight words.
